Articles About Tracy Noonan
“Tracy Noonan (formerly Ducar), a member of the World Cup championship team, had been a student of mine when she was in high school. I followed her career from high school to the University of North Carolina and eventually onto the U.S. National Team. I experienced some of the ups and downs during her journey, but Tracy always impressed me by the fact that she had a plan, knew how to carry it out and would not let anything deter her from her dreams. One of my most painful decisions as a coach was when I had to replace Tracy as the reserve goalkeeper for the Olympic team in 1996. She had suffered an injury shortly before my decision had to be made and I felt that I owed it to the team to have a reserve goalkeeper who was 100 percent. Tracy was devastated, angry, and confused, but through her dedication and determination, she rebounded and made the 1999 World Cup Team. One of the primary reasons she was able to do this was because she had an intricate plan to help her reach her goal of recovering from her injury and again playing soccer on an elite level. Today Tracy is the goalkeeper for the Boston Breakers in the WUSA.”
